Dominican Republic Mission Trips 2010 Every summer, ministry teams from Woodridge travel to the Dominican Republic to serve in Guayabal, a small village of Haitian Refugees and Kilo 16 (a small community located on the 16th
kilometer marker outside of Hato Mayor). 2010 will be our 8th year of involvement, and our relationship with this community and our Dominican host church, Centro Cristiano Shalom, deepens. This year, we are beginning new discipleship and leadership
development efforts, including starting the Alpha Course in both villages. The refugees endure unimaginable hardship in the hopes of establishing a new life away from Haiti. We have seen God build this community as many people have received new homes, been healed of diseases and physical ailments, and come to know and love God. Each year, we see them serve each other and pull together to improve life for their entire community. We, as visitors, have been changed by the example of enduring faith of those in Guayabal, and by what we have seen God do in the lives of those with desperate needs.
